For a client's training age, see the weekly set range per muscle group: the minimum that still drives growth, the range that maximizes it, and the ceiling before more sets start costing more recovery than they're worth.
1 Client Training Age
2 Weekly Volume Landmarks (Sets per Muscle Group)
MEV, minimum effective volume
MAV, maximum adaptive volume
MRV, maximum recoverable volume
How to use this: Start a training block near the MEV for each muscle group and add 1-2 sets per week
as the block progresses, staying under MRV. Once weekly volume approaches MRV, plan a deload before the
next block. MEV, MAV, and MRV all rise with training age since a more trained lifter can tolerate and
needs more total volume to keep progressing. These are starting points, not rules, adjust based on how
the client actually recovers session to session.
